Kirby, George (16th century)

'A church composer of the 16th century, who has the honour to be author of Windsor tune, which occurs in the Collection of Mic. Este, 1595.' (Psalmo-Doxologia)

Knapp, William (1698/9-1768)

Glover, psalmodist and parish clerk of St James Church, Poole, Dorset. Music widely distributed and re-used. Two of his hymn tunes (but not his harmonies) are still in common use: Wareham and Spetisbury.

For interest, I've added entries from a biographical index in Psalmo-Doxologia: A New and Complete Collection of Psalm and Hymn Tunes (London: Printed for W. Simpkin and R. Marshall), originally published in about 1825.
